Hands in the Storm was founded with a singular mission: to provide affordable, safe housing for underserved communities, particularly veterans and low-income families. Our vision is to transform distressed properties into homes where families can thrive. We believe that everyone deserves a place to call home, and we are committed to making that a reality through our dedicated efforts in buying, rehabbing, and distributing homes at cost.
Who We Are
Hands in the Storm is an organization that provides clean, and affordable homes for low-income people, veterans, and the homeless to help them improve their way of life.
Hands in the Storm was created to help people in need. Over the years I have experienced many issues of not having or needing a safe place to stay, or not having enough money for food or the basic necessities of life.
There are several groups of people out there feeling they have nowhere to turn for help, or how to get help, so they just give up. When veterans come home after serving in the military needing special homes for their needs and not sure how to seek the resources needed, we are here to help. Or when a family loses their home and start living on the street because they don’t have anything left after paying what bills they can each month.
Hands in the Storm offers several programs to help people improve their way of life. Everyone will face issues in life, we provide help when it’s needed.
Cora Jackson
Cora Jackson, the visionary behind Hands in the Storm, has dedicated her life to social justice and community building. Cora’s goal is to transform the lives of individuals in need. Her passion for affordable housing and her unwavering commitment to veterans and low-income families have been the driving forces behind the mission of Hands in the Storm.
Our Philosophy
At Hands in the Storm, we exist to create pathways to homeownership for those in need, providing safe, clean, and affordable housing. We believe that everyone deserves a place they can call home, and we are committed to making that a reality by offering not just homes, but hope and guidance to navigate life’s challenges.
Our approach is centered on compassion and action. Through the generosity of donations and strategic purchases of HUD homes and distressed properties, we rehabilitate these spaces and build affordable housing from the ground up. Our aim is to ensure that more people have access to stable, dignified living environments.
We hold ourselves to the highest standard of respect, honor, and kindness in every interaction. We strive to always go above and beyond, treating everyone we serve and work with as valued individuals. We believe deeply in the potential and goodness within every person, and we carry that belief into everything we do.
